Upgrading
#1
Hey guys, I'm new here and have a few questions. I am thinking about upgrading my subs to some JL W6V2's. I am going to be fiberglassing the whole trunk area, and would like to use 3 10" ones. is there any reason why I should keep them in pairs?
and my next question is, could someone explain, or post a link to an article explaining canccelation?
thanks guys,
The Saint

this doesnt directly answer your question but makes for some good reading, do a google search, i bet there is a pile of info on the internet about it
a simple explenation is when the waveform of a acoustic device interferes with another, usually in a negative way, you can get effective cancellation, in other words one speaker or object, can make you lose output from another speaker at certain freqencies depending on many factors, placement, phase etc

To answer your question of why people use pairs of woofers (or singles) is mainly for impedance. If you have a 2 ohm stable amplifier and you hook up two 4 ohm woofers that's great, (2 ohm load) but if you add a third then you're down to 1.33 ohms.

I thought there was some specific reason, as in 12's wok best in pairs, and 10's work best in 3's... or something liek that... thanks guys

hey man, yeah you definately need at least a 500/1 for each sub, or if you want to save some $$$ you could get a single e1400 for each oil. that will do the same thing. i was going to get an e1800 for my 2 12w6v2's and i was told not to...just my $0.02
