i never once said ive built more enclosures than anyone else, i guess i just thought that using speakers in their most recommended application (and in the case of avi it was the engineer of the speakers) would be the best, i'll just stop thinking outside the box.

You seem to be under the impression that you are doing something new or different.
Show me any serious enthusiast or competitor and I will bet they have tried it at least once. I know MY findings were that spending the time did little to enhance the performance of the driver. I guess we were all wrong when you asked for OUR experiences and opinions.
Did anyone who won finals this year run enclosed midbass in their doors? Honest question as I never paid much attention but I can't recall anyone? These guys are at the top of the game...
Go play with your door enclosures. Have a good time doing it too. Really that is the main part of the entire experience.

most use kickpanels for midbass and midrange because of pathlegnth differences and because iasca is judged for both seats where pathlegnth differences are critical, i use digital time delay which allows for some pathlegnth correction, but creates a problem in the passenger seat position, my car wasnt built for competition but for personal use. my suspicion is that if you tried it and the difference was negligble than you a)didnt research you speakers for the proper allignment or b)built it incorrectly. either way if you enjoy it do it however you want, i just dont get the logic that if the engineers for the speakers recommend a specific allignment for optimal performance that it doesnt when applied in car. i couldnt find one person today that agreed that ib is an "opitmum" method of speaker mounting. and im still trying to figure out the whole kick pods, vent up the a pillars or out of the car that dwvw stated, i would like to get some clarification on that. im not sure that dawgsbreakfast ever really added anything logical to the discussion but to basically disagree with people that have forgotten more than he and i and all of us will ever know

As for how many boxes you have built, you said you have been in the business for a very long time and that you have built more mid enclosures than sub enclosures. Since I build about 200 boxes a year I guessed that you built quite a few. Also you said " i have built more test enclosures for midranges than you could imagine" . I guess I can imagine quite a bit!

i would like to see pics of the kick panel a- pillar phenomenon, not saying it doesnt exist, but id like to see it, as well as dawgs vent into the carpet with random 3/4" holes in the back to let the speakers "breath" in another post, sounds like and archaic venting technique or some sort of x-files ib, it sounds like you you let your imagination run wild, good to see you thiking outside the box.

Defro13 - you want a really quick example of a speaker that 'wants' to be IB? Ask anyone or think to yourself too cuz you've been around the block - does a 6x9 speaker sound better in a rear parcel shelf or in a '6x9box'? Survey says the parcel shelf almost 100% of the time (unless the car sux). Why? The 'recommended enclosure' for most 6x9s is a 'sealed' box of about 6-8cuft which, for a pair, is the size of your average trunk.
Really - we're not trying to be contrary here simply for the hellary of it. You may indeed be able to improve the performance of your drivers by enclosing them but most of the time half the effort spent in making a good sealed dead door panel will sound as good/better/or damn close. i stated in my previous post that im not talking about 6.5" coaxials or 6x9's for that matter, but better quality component or coaxials, and if the speakers were really designed for ib why would thiel/small parameters be provided, i dont know of one design program that will plot an ib alignment, perhaps im wrong
