your saying that to correctly do ib you have to sound deaden and seal up the door, absolutely!!!! to eliminate resonance etc. is it your belief that ib is as efficient as a vented box, i have spent far too many hours doing just as youve said (sealing, sound deadening an so on) and have found that a vented box is superior, dont get me wrong like i said the list of vehicles that you can build vented in the door is far exceeded by those that you cant, and in those vehicles ib is the next logical method, but to dismiss all other mothods and say ib is the best way seems, closeminded

very well thought out reply, i didnt sum up the entire thread but responded specifically to dawgs comments in his last reply, where he stated that ib was the best regardless, unless i interpreted incorrectly, and if you read, i said that i agreed with him on virtually everything he said, if compliance is closeminded im guilty

Hello,
I was watching this thread, maybe I'm just a smuk. But Defro is a true old boy, he knows what he's talking about. I have known him for 9 years. He is one of the true car audio gurus, he sells huge system and a very demanding customer base. My hat goes off too, him. He builds and designs the biggest audio systems in Canada. I see over 300 plus dealers in Canada a year...its my opinion.

I still pose this question to you....... with all your years of experience and now having one of your friend's/customers/buddy reinforce your excellence in the field and yet you post this in the beginning:
i am going to build it with the speaker in the front bottom of the door(a 2002 neon) and i am going to port it out the back of the door panel. it seems that very few people do this and i was wondering why, is it because it doesnt work well, poor power hadling

and you still are willing to downplay there opinion which stongly states that ib is the best only as a last resort, you truly are the most interesting person ive ever talked to, im not sure what you do for a living but i hope car audio is just hobby for you
and then:if your confused as to where im porting it, its ported at the back of the door panel into the passenger area

I don't think he was cofused by wherre the port was, he is confused by in the opening post that you lead everyone to beleive you had never done this before, and a few posts later you have done it hundreds of times.
Your first post was not worded to solicit useful info, it was worded to get opinions on how a newbie (how you came off) should build ported boxes. In other words it was a troll post. Because you already have decided that ported boxes in the doors is the best for SQ. Which I have yet to see one good sounding example of in my life. And yes the best application does change from home to car, unless your car is a 12'x12' squarish room with nice thick carpeting, without glass for about 40% of the surface area and plastic for the rest with multiple crappy nooks and crevices.
That's great that James endorses you, but hmmm, I still think that in a lot of cases IB is the best application for speakers in the doors. Of course you can always finish that car and compete with it, I'd love to hear that set up sound great!

lol - I am just reading now for the entertainment of it.
James - no one is really arguing with this guy. He in fact is arguing with everyone and we are all saying 'dood, what's yer problem?' Your claim makes me smile though cuz I don't know of a single heavy hitter out of south central BC. Anyway - not the point.
Dereck called best when he identified this as a Troll Post. I just don't think he was prepared for the bounty
FLAME ON!
