Both have excellent SQ and both require a decent size box.
One on one, there is much more potential in the W7. The ID is very efficient and can be used with much less power while the JL is very power hungry but can outperfrom it in every area when powered up.

Actually, I've just purchased an IDmax 12, (once I actually get it shipped here) and I know that Mr Marco has a 13" W7, so we can put them side by side and compare if U like.

Sure , then we can do a three way 12W , 13W and Id's . I am sure it would probably take two ID's to overpwoer a fully loaded W7 ?

I am glad to hear that they faily similar sq qualities and would be willing to bet with my amp and so many wiring posibilities on two various coil woofers to satisfy me much more then a single W7 running around 2.67 ohm w/ the PPI PC 2400 .

Bytheway ,

Are these two subs currently as good as it gets for powerful sq configs or are there more contenders / winners ? I am on last years issue of things .

I am certain there are several SPL woofers comapring the W7 that will probably shred it but then again If you'd want something to move air one could just get a fan or leaf blower ? J/K .

The W7 and IDmax are pretty much top of the heap, the XXX is up there, but not nearly as efficient as the IDmax or W7, but it'll eat as much power as you wanna give it.

The XXX and the Brahma have excellent SQ but they have a little different sound than the ID or the JL. It has to do with the XBL^2 technology. Most really like it, some find it a bit dry. Like all speakers, you have to listen to them.
There's lot's of subs that will murder all of these in spl. Thaat's really not what were talking about is it.
