Sounds good marco, we may borrow them for the test... as soon as my freakin sub gets here. I'm waiting on the v.4 to get out of the prototype stage so I can get one. should be a few weeks or so.
word is better motors, better cone, better coils.

wait a second , scrap the 13 !

We are doing 12 vs. 12 comparison and the next exquivalent would at best be a 10 W7 not a 13 against the max . Even then ...

but If we will just be toyin around it doesn't matter now does it ? It was my understanding we are going to give people the proper review .

if we're gonna meter them, then the 13 would have a marginal displacement advantage, but really, with the construction of the max, vs the construction of the 13, the cone area is about the same.

okay... this is not an exact comparison. but it will have to do. Back when i only had one IDMAX and one BP1200.1. I was running a 2.5 cube slot ported enclosure tune 28 hz. I compared This setup which was behind the driver seat with the sub firing up and the port firing toward the passenger door, to a similar vehicle (of the same make but it was a 4-door and same year F-150. He had the same CD player as I did(CDA-7894) and a red top battery. I had a very poor battery that needed desperate replacing. He had a large ported enclosure (~3 cube/unknown tuning) with a JL 1000/1 to power it. The enclosure was sitting on his back seat (weak) and the sub and port were firing up at an angle towards the back window. Now...we compared and listened to a variety of different music. resonance test (0 hz-500hz sweap). bass test, Rock, Alt, Rap, Hard Kore (double bass), and of course some good ol country. The SQ of the IDMAX was unbeatable. Especially with its ability to produce very deep bass and yet keep excellent sound quality at its peak output. The W7 could produce high spl levels but seemed to be lacking in response, depth and flexability. It would not acurately reproduce deep sound and sounded terribly sloppy playing higher notes. The Responsiveness of the Max was evident in its ability to keep up with constant double bass at very high volumes. The W7 would even "miss" at low volumes, and at high volumes it just sounded like a contenious rumble. The rap was interesting because the MAX would keep "tighter" and have more control but the w7 kicked *** in spl. The country sounded terrible on the w7, cant even discribe it except as... nasty. while the max reproduced as if it were a midbass driver.

Okay... basically down to the bottom of things...

The max has excellent sq and can produce higher than average spl, even with very little power (once ran a 120w road gear amp to it in a sealed box and it sounded great)

The W7 can handle a hell of a lot of power. and can produce higher spl levels than the max. but the sq is of no greater quality than bass model speakers.

There was a post concerning voice coil problems. I have had this problem before. but it was on a v2 model (old style). the problem was not the voice coild but it was the metel RaDiAtOr peice that is connected to the back of the cone for cooling. The problem was that somebody would either push on it the wrong was or it would get bumped in shipping or something and the thing would get bent. Causing a miss-alignment of voice coil. This would cause the coil to rub/scratch and leed to extreme heat damage. Now. with that being said. the new v.3 models do not have this problem. they were redesigned and have had 0---i repeat 0 repairs done to them [related to this subject of course]. (was in june when i was told by the repair dude at Image Dynamics)

On a personal note. I had a chance to go with 3W7 instead of 3IDMAX and i chose the IDMAX because of there clarity, depth, and frequency flexability. And lets not include the cost effectivness. There is a HUGE price difference between these two woofers. And it just goes to show that the more expensive is not always better. I now have 3 max and 3600 watts in an 8 cube ported box facing forward in my f-150. i have yet to meter because of broken equipment. but as soon as i do i will let you all know.

Another thing is I love the slogan..."Image is Everything."

its odd because, i ditched all of the maxes ive ever owned because the w7 simply outperformed them in all categories....

Low end output was just no contest at all really..... max has a very nice punchy sound in the proper box but its nothing the w7 cant do.....

i actually did this test a few years ago.... with the 10 12 and 13 against the idmax 12 and just recently the idmax 10....

w7 was just unstoppable...
