I think all of defro and dukk's differences would best be solved with a flat of Mountain Crest

You're nuts. No matter WHAT it does a $6k processor is not worth it to 99.9+% of car audio enthusiasts. Having God himself tune a system is not worth $6k to the vast majority of us. I'm sure the piece is awesome, and obviously is worth whatever you paid for it to you (not 6k I'm guessing.) The statement at the end just seems incredibly ignorant to me, implying that anyone that isn't running out and buying one is just too stupid to see the light.

...perhaps true for the PXA-H900, but the 700/701 can be had for roughly 800-900 bones and does 90% of what the 900 does at 95% of the quality, so how can you really go wrong???

Add up all the x-overs, time alligment, level setting, eq and surround features plus way simplified install and it actually can save money in a more elaborate system...for example, think of all the high end RCA cords you won't need to connect all the processors, you only need runs from one processor to the amps you're using...you can run optical or Ai-Net input to the processor from the source.

And Dukk where is that list??? I thought you were proud of this you stuff you speak of but it seems like you're not going out of your way to bring it up again, on the contrary.

Sorry, I'd take a CD-700II, MX-406, Denford, or similar deck + a decent eq/crossover and have the money left over in my pocket. To me, and most people, a 10k source unit/processor setup is not worth it regardless of how good it is. You can get pretty damn amazing for way less money in gear, and frankly that's good enough for the vast majority of people. Hell, I had a EPX and it was more processing than I wanted.

Also, there is no Alpine deck that I like the cosmetics of currently.

I'm sure that the 900 is absolutely amazing, not disputing that, just disagreeing that such a niche piece can be as indispensible as you say.

I'm wondering if the people who use (and those who compete and win with) the Pioneer P9 setup or whatever it's called are feeling like they are missing out by not having a 900. They probably are not and I imagine could afford a 900 but perhaps choose to use the Pioneer instead and don't feel like they are losing out because of it.
