Someone is bound to recommend the AC 4XS. I personally would avoid it - it takes chips to change frequency and IMO is a pain in the *** to use compared to the Alpine or Coustic.

Other than that, an excellent piece. [/QB]</font>
Agreed, the chips are a PITA to deal with, but at least they don't go all scratchy like pots do. I have a killer PPI crossover from 1988 that is nearly useless now since the pots are finished and are nearly impossible to find replacements for (4 gang pots). In contrast, the crossover modules are easy to build and are dead accurate. Personally I felt the same way about the modules, but now I'm a convert...
I suppose with current digital crossovers the whole potentiometer failure issue is no more.

Meh, all my potentiometers are AOK ... even the ones that got all wet and rusty from our 100% humidity days.
In any case, the 3402 is 4v ... actually mine gets to 4.7v before hitting the 0.05% THD number (I wish I still had an oscilloscope); I assume they're all the same.
I have actually been hunting for an EPX lately .. I found a neato spot to put that controller. As for EPX2 problems ... I haven't heard of ANYONE having problems. Though, I only knew one person that had one.

^ With the EPX/EPX2 if you get one that works it will probably always work (unless you blow it up) but if you get one that has been repaired it will likely need repair again. Odd that way.
FWIW I never said the 4XS was a bad piece, it isn't - just that it's a pain in the *** to use, the instructions are wrong, and, after using AC crossovers for years, I love potentiometers

Hey
If you can find an old PPI FRX-456, it will do all that you are asking for. It was a very nice XO when I used it for a few months. Also the Alpine DRE-A500 is good. I had the AC 4XS and yeah it was a pain to deal with changing the chips but allowed for exact tailoring of the frequency.
BTW NOBASS, the 4 gang pots for the PPI's are still available from Allen Bradley and ALPS - put the sections together and stick a cut-to-length shaft through them. Look at major electronics distributors. I had to replace them in a FRX322 a couple years ago.
Good Luck, J
