And yeah, maybe a half dozen posts pounding what the guy said is a little gangbusters, but IMO it is completely legitimate considering the urban legendness of his post

 

As far as the bit about the speed electricity travels through a cable - it varies depending whether we are talking DC current transfer, in which case the amount of current needs to be considered, or the propagation speed of an audio signal through a cable, in which case the cable itself is a large determinant of the speed.

In any case, it is REALLY fast!!
