Currently I have a 4g power wire coming into a distribution block which splits it into 2 8g going into each amp.

I just purchased an Alpine PDX-1.1000 amplifier and the manual required a 4g power wire running to the amp. I also purchased a 4 farad capacitor. So my question is do i have to change my power and ground wires to 0/2 gauge and run power wire straight to the cap and from there to the distribution block with 2 4g outputs for each amp? can i not keep the wiring just the way it is and just add the capacitor before the wire goes to the distribution block and have each amp get 8g input?

Please let me know how i should run the wiring as i am a bit of a newb!

I'm assuming your other amp will still be excepting an 8 ga input. If you really wanted to you could get some 2ga. wire, run it into a distroblock and send out 1 4ga. and 1 8 ga. wire for your amps.. then install the cap where your 4 ga. wire is.

But still you can just leave your 4 ga. wire now and just get a block that still sends out 1 4ga and 1 8ga and put your cap in. That would still be enough..

You might have to get new wiring, sorry to say. 0g into a distro block, then two 4g out. Install your cap onto the 4g that leads to your sub amp (1.1000), as close as possible to the actual amp itself. You can try to do all this with 8g, but if you arent able to get enough power to anything, you will know what the reason is.

i would want to keep the wiring for now, so where do i find this distribution block whcih has one 4g and one 8g output?

and fromw hat i understand i should have the cap attached to the 4g wire going into the 1000.1 (sub) amp and not before it goes into the distribution block?

ok sounds good but WHERE do i get this distribution block which has 1 4g input, 1 4g and 1 8g output?

i have one which has 2 8g outputs...

Why would he need 0/1 ga for that setup.. 0/1 is rated for like 3500watts a little excessive for the 1.1000 and an 8 ga. amp input on his other amp.

You can find those blocks hanging on the shelf at a Future Shop or Best Buy. The 4ga. input will be on the front and off to the side of the same block the 4.ga comes back out (non fused) and your 8 ga. will run through an AGU fuse on the block and out the other end.

...just pull out the drill... you can make that 4gauge dis.block an 0gauge block in 2 minutes... i did, just make sure its possible before you try..
