5V Hardwired Power Supply for Sirius
5V Hardwired Power Supply for Sirius
Hi all,
I want to hardwire my Sirius unit into my vehicle and am looking for a 5V Hardwired Power Supply (not the lighter adaptor). I also DO NOT want to install another lighter under my dashboard, I am looking for a truely hardwired solution. I also don't need all the stuff which comes from Sirius in their kit - only the 5V to 12V Power Supply.
Does anyone have any ideas where I might find such a thing ?
Thanks in advance

I am not trying to be a smart *** here by any means, but this is a fairly simple operation to do. If you don't feel you can pull it off yourself or you don't have the time to mess with it, why not just take it to a shop and have them do it for you?
Funny Guy..... ;-)
I reached this point as Future Shop, Best Buy want to sell me the complete Sirius Wiring Kit, and do the install. I don't need the full kit as the vehicle I'm installing it in has a custom autosound head unit and Ipod Connection with Aux input. As such, I don't need a full install either. I have the 1/8" connector from the back of the Serius to the back of my head unit - I just need to power the Serius unit !
Kromer Radio in Toronto 'usually' has such a power cord, but not in stock.. so, that explains why I'm looking.

The simple way is to sand the tip and the ground terminals of the existing 12 volt plug. Solder wires on to them, tape them securely and hardwire it with the new wires that you've just soldered. That's what we call an outside mod. Very simple, yet effective.
