97 aurora radio wiring problems

97 aurora radio wiring problems
I am attempting to install a aftermarket radio in the 97 aurora I noticed that there is a yellow instrument panel wire and a brown instrument panel wire.
the problem is that I have no instrument panel dash lights when these 2 wires are not connected. And when they are connected the factory steering wheel control lights and dash are illuminated.
I can't be sure if the yellow wire in question is a power wire and the brown wire is the illumination wire.
All the radio wires are already cut and there is no factory harness.
What would u guys do to keep the dash lights on and get this radio installed?
