Question

Hey, I have a Pioneer amp here and when I hook it up the light will come on and say that it is getting power, but it will not put anthing through the speakers.

Can someone help me out here ? What could my problem be? Ground is all good. Fuses are good.

Its my friends actually... But whatever.

Thanks

It has been installed in 2 different cars. Different wires and speakers.

Same thing happened with both setups..

Cool

i think that perhaps the magic smoke that makes it work has been let out. an electronics tech should be able to put some fresh smoke back into it, so you can enjoy sweet sounds again

I had that problem too... my remote wire to the HU was a little messed up... that fixed the problem.

Possibly the "bridged" switch is wrong for the way you have it wired.

Also, in some amps the power light indicates that it is getting remote signal. I have had a few amps in which the light will turn on even if the + is not connected to the battery.

Get a volt meter and check the voltage at the amp.

After you've checked everything over, open the amp up and look for something that might be wrong (Black marks on the circuit board are usually an indication that the magic smoke has been let out)

Hope you don't need a magic smoke recharge - that can get pricey depending on how much magic smoke was lost.

Alright, I opened up the amp and a resistor is blown. R265 is the number beside it.

Can I just find out what ohm this was and replace it ?

Thanks, later
