Lightbulb

lol, first of all you are buying a powered Bazooka tube...

And you have zero idea how to put it in: Anyone have any clue how to install this thing before I buy it?

...yet the guys at FS are the assclowns...

yeah...

Maybe you can cut up an old extension cord for power wire

Oh before you purchase that Bazooka thingy (If you do). Do you have an aftermarket CD player? If not you should buy one with basic pre-out voltage or whatever you want, and then buy a 10" sub or something.

Just a suggestion of course.

You laugh, but 14 awg wire would provide sufficient power for a 100watt Bazooka . . . its bazooka so we're talking 100 watts peak!

^ Sadly, I have seen this more than once

Why can't people learn that extensions cords are for speaker wire? Booster cables are for power. duhh..

in reality it is true..the extension cord would be enough.. a 14 awg cable is good for 15 amps... if you do the math 100 watts / 12 volts is only 8.3333 amperes

but blah... I wouldnt
lol

No offense bro, but I think he was talking about the majority of guys working at FS. I say this because I once had someone drive from Orangevill to Toronto just so I could fix their setup because the FS guys did a bad job. One thing in particular was the grounding of an amp to the back of a speaker. I mean, I can't say whether this really is bad or not, but I'm gonna say it was. And when a store sells a 150 amp fuse holder but no 150 amp fuse...that screams assclowns to me. But I don't know which one you work at so I might be biased.

My point exactly.

It is nasty . . . and I wouldn't want to do it, but it is sufficient.
Part of the reason I wouldn't want to do it, is because it would be proof positive that my system isn't big enough to require REAL power.

However, my main philosophy when installing is "Do what is safe, works properly, and do it as cheap as possible." So a 14awg extension cord fits that bill for a bazooka tube . . . and 4 awg residential wire is what I have under the hood - brutal to bend around corners, but it provides proper current and being found in a dumpster = cheap!

but if u ever watched russel peters you would pronounce cheap more like "smaarrrt"
but dont over do it... solid conductor wire is not meant to be used in a car... the insulation and wire are not meant to be flexible or endure the environment... I am an ex installer for many many year and now I am an electrician so I understand the difference in the type of wire use.
