Box question

hey guys,im just wondering how much of an effect the thickness of a box
would have...my firend built me a 1/2" thick box for my subs as a prototype
to see how low they would sound. The subs im using were 2 12" rockford hx2
getting about 300 rms each off my old alpine mrd m605.

At the time everything seemed well the bass was a little muddy but mostly due to the lack of proper power, otherwise hit the lows pretty decently. Now i have upgraded to a new battery and new hifonic bxi1206 amp and im feeding 450 rms to each sub and im not quite too pleased with the bass...it doesnt hit as low and deep as it once did and i think it lacks in resonance

should i follow the original plan to build a thicker version of the same box?
or should i get a new design from scratch?

thanks

i would suggest at least 3/4 inch all around and 1.5 inch for the baffle, as for the design it seems good. Change the thickness and see how it works.

just remember that changing the thickness of the wood will also change the cubic footage and tuning of the enclosure. do you have a pic of the original blueprint design?
