Ear friendly porsche
A client of mine decided he wanted his 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera to be a little more appealing to his ears. The car came from Japan and was fitted with a factory Blaupunkt head unit (what a piece of crap), and some A/D/S components that were hacked into place.
The goal:
louder and better sound all around
be able to hear music properly with the top down
have use of ipods etc
The solution:
Kenwood KDC-X896 head unit
JL Audio XD500/3 amplifier
Hertz HCX165 hi-energy coaxials
Hertz ESF20.5 energy 8" slim subwoofers
Pods were made and fitted to the doors while retaining the pockets. Matching carpet was impossible to find locally or for a decent price. Black was used.
Pictures (apologies for the iPhone pictures):
car is a little dirty in the shop. I'll post some nice rainy day ones when I get a chance.
Kenwood head unit
passenger door with the amplifier mounted under the seat. It was a tight fit. We recovered the pockets with black carpet after these pictures were taken as well.
