Grounding question

ok, i am nearing completion of my system. i am going to have 2 amps: orion 1200d and 8004. i ran 1ga wiring to the trunk, and then the power goes into a fused distro block to split to 2 4ga wires, one for each amp, however my question is about the ground, the distro block for the 1ga ground will be about 3" away from the 1200D, but about 4 feet away from the 8004, my question is, would it be ok to run the 4ga ground from the 8004 4feet to the distroblock? if not can i just ground the 4ga right near the amp with another grounding terminal?

thanks for any help

Darren

Yes, you can run 4 gage from the distribution block and 0 gage from there to ground.

Thumbs up

/\ Yeah, what he said....

Grounding amps at separate points in the trunk can lead to hours of excitement thanks to the dreaded "ground loop" gremlin.....something to be avoided at all costs....

Ground Loop - The condition created when two or more paths for electricity are created in a ground line, or when one or more paths are created in a shield or an audio cable. This can create undesirable noise such as a high pitched whine when the vehicle is running or pops and clicks when other devices are used in the vehicle."form 12volt.com"
