Can i just cut off the male heads and solder them? would that work?

 

Yes you can snip the ends and solder the inner conductor together, heatshrink it, then solder the out conductor together and heatshrink it and then one final large heatshrink over the works. Or you can head into any audio shop and buy a set of RCA couplers..... cheap and easy.
