help, lights blinks to the bass
Salutations, i recently installed a JL 100v1 amp along with 1-13W7 sub in a ported enclosure, 0 gauage upgrade, the big 3 upgrade, added another battery in the trunk and added a 40 farad cap, and when i have the vol at thirty my head lights, and my tail lights begin to blink when the bass hits, and the louder the volume the more it blinks. Can someone plz advise me how to fix this problem, thank you

You need to check the resistance on the ground return from the amp to the battery, my bet is that it is higher than a crack who got free "candy". This is the Big 4 wire. Next, you have a classic case of expecting too much from too little. You can do (and should do) all you can to deliver current to the amp as efficiently as possible, the problem is that your alternator cannot keep up with the demand that you are placing on it. Your alternator was designed to run the vehicle with a little extra left over, not the vehicle and a big time current drain under constant use like a stereo. Time to start looking at a purpose built alternator.

You can have an extra battery and a big cap but eventually you will out run the alternator's ability to renew the energy you are displacing. Add that to your factory alternator being on the tiny side and you're left with looking at a replacement for sure.

This link will take you to a post I wrote up many years ago for another site, as it is tech related I beleive the site should have no issues with it being posted.
