HELP!!! need more power

Hello, I have the common problem of not having enough power to run my audio system. For the most part the car is only used for show and audio competitions. I currently am running…

Two MTX 1501D mono amps
One MTX 1004 to my fr and rr (off when competing)
Two MTX 9500 subs
Stinger sp1000 battery
Stinger shd20 20 farad hybrid cap
Eclipse deck with 8v pre outs
Infinity Kappa Perfect Components ff and rr
Audio control eqs equalizer
Audio control epicenter
0 gauge wire

The vehicle is an 89 prelude Si.

There is nothing around for custom audio installation where I am living or anywhere close at all for that matter there for I do everything myself. But as I stated earlier I am having power issues. When ever I compete my audio system drops from approx 14.9 to about 10.9 volts. So my question is what is my best options to fix this. I can fit a second alternator in my car rather easily it’s the wiring I am not %100 sure about.

I really want this system to perform at its best and don’t mind spending a little money to do so. Any thoughts or ideas is appreciated, Thanks for you time.

Jack up your wire to 0 gauge for best results from battery negative to chassis, alternator to battery, and engine to chassis.

Your stock alternator is only 80 amps, that is your problem.

By the description, I'm assuming you've done the "Big 3" as mentioned and all your cabling is up to snuff, except that alternator? If not, get that cabling perfect!

Ya, if you don't mind rigging up a second alternator, go for it. You're competing as you said, so both alternators must work together. That is, you cannot give one alternator to the car, and one to the stereo, that's against the rules. You may be better off pulling off that 80 and bolting in a custom 200 amp alternator.

Rob V.O. is the custom alternator man 'round these parts. And I know he's done Honda's like yours before. Send him a PM, he'll have ideas for you to mull over.

Get a bigger alt and do the big 3. That ought to get your eletrical system up to par.
