Help with Sub Repair! Voice Coil/Lead related
#1
I have a 10" Eclipse Aluminum 500W RMS DVC subwoofer that has a little problem. On one side, at the point where the lead meets the voice coil in the middle of the sub, there's a bead of silicone that circles the voice coil and holds everything in place. This bead seems to have detached itself at the end, and sticks out about 1/2 cm over the spider. When the sub is on, it makes a hitting noise which is very annoying. I can easily push this bead back into place, but I have to find a way to hold it there. Can I crazy glue it back in place, since its such a tiny piece? Should I silicone that little piece back into place? what should I do?

Not quite sure what it is you are talking about???
You are saying it's a bead of silicone where the spider meets the cone, right???
If it's not properly secured, then it's probably not doing it's job!
I would remove the old silicone (or whatever it is) and add a bead of similar adhesive...

Yes that is the bead I'm talking about. The piece that has detached is only about 1/2 cm long though, and it seems like it would be quite a difficult task to re-silicone the entire way around for such a small spot that came undone. I was thinking along the lines of crazy glueing the end of the silicone bead back into place, if thats possible.
