All i did was use a pair of wire cutters (yes CUTTERS) to crimp in 2 seperate spots on both edges and then used a torch and solder, i just tested the strength and i got up to 500 or so lbs of weight on it with 1/0guage welding wire.

Mmmm, blowtorch ftw!!!!

I LOVE solder! It is glue for wire. I marries the wire to the connector permanently.

For your crimp style connectors like yours, cut the jacket off the cable to the desired length, plus an eight of an inch extra. Tine the end to about a quarter of an inch from the jacket. Put the ring terminal into a vice, ring down. Torch solder into the cavity. While it is still boiling, insert the tined wire into the orifice and wait for it to coagulate with the ring piece. After it cools, apply the heat shrink the same way as you've shown in the start of this thread. Then, it's perfect!

SoundsGood?

Crimp then solder, better mechanical attachment, just let the solder be wicked in, same as soldering copper pipe

There's always more than one way to skin a snake...all these methods work well. I use a vice and solder myself...or if it'll fit, screw on battery cable ends like these:
