Unhappy Im New to Car Audio!!! Please Help

Hi everyone,

My name is Braden and currently reside in Calgary, AB. I am brand new to this site and also a beginner about car audio systems but I have a keen interest in learning as much as possible about all the nicks and crannies about car audio.

First off I have a budget of about 1,500 $ for a Head Unit, Speakers, Amplifier, and Subwoofers. I was wondering if this is a good setup, if its not please feel free to criticize and complain! And is it reasonable to have it installed by Best Buy? or are there

Head Unit- Alpine CDA-117 Car Deck
Amplifier- Pioneer 2-Channel Amplifier (GM-5400F)
Subwoofer- Kicker Solo-Baric L3 2x12" 1600 Watt Enclosed
Speakers- Kicker 6.5" Coaxial 2-way Car Speakers.

Total Pricing is approx. 1300$ not including Installation.

Welcome to the site!

Do u have a price breakdown per piece of equipment? Have u listened to what they've suggested? Compare what they've offered to any other shops local quotes you can get. If you like the sound and the price is reasonable compared to what else is around, go for it. As far as install, there's good installers and bad. If the guy takes pride in his work you'll end up with a good finished product. See what anybody around you has to say about their work.

Thank you.

Well here would be the reasonable price range for each equipment;

HU- $400 Max
Amplifier- $250 to $300 range
Subwoofer - $700
Speakers- $200 Max

As I said before I am brand new to this stuff so the only place I've looked so far is Best Buy but I'll fish around for some local stores and see what I can find. Thank you for the imfoation you have given me so I can at least start with it!

With that kind of cash for JUST the equipment you can get some good stuff. if u have to factor in install you should expect to pay $3-400 for parts and install, incl. dash kit, wire harness, amp wiring kit, etc. It's worth buying the better equipment and staring at it in your living room for a while until u save enough for install.

Make sure you're gonna like the sound of your speakers down the road. Find q deck with a HPF if you're not planning on running a speaker amp. It will clean up your sound by cutting bass from the front speakers.

Happy Hunting

I'd round the budget for subs and amp to be more similar. You're better off budgeting about $300-400 for amp and $400-500 for subs and enclosure.
