Install Issue - HU Remote Wire Lead

Just finished installing an Alpine CDA-7830 HU with a Pioneer GM-H50 amp that powers the factory speakers. Factory deck died so I thought this would be a quick easy fix. Anyways, everything works fine with the ignition key on but when I start the car the amp shuts off. All the wiring was checked and fuses were fine. Checked voltage at the amp and it seems fine. Noticed that I wasn't getting a 12V reading at the remote wire. Checked the connection behind the HU and it seemed fine. Shut the car off and turned the key back on (battery only) and the checked the remote wire lead coming out of the deck. Was getting 12V until I started the car again.

I'm assuming something is up with the deck but can't understand why the remote trigger would do that. Is there an internal relay in the head unit that is faulty? If so, why would turning the car on cause me to lose the 12V remote signal...
