My brother, who drives my mom's 1995 Dodge Neon with the stock AM/FM cassette, got a new Panasonic CD headunit from the girlfriend for Christmas. I am trying to surprise him by doing the install.

I bought the Metra dashkit and wiring harness from 2001 Audio Video and had a friend solder and "shrinkwrap" the wiring that came with the headunit to the wiring harness.

I was told by the clerk at 2001 Audio Video that the dashkit is a universal Chrysler one and that some of the clips need to be broken off. I have posted a picture of the dashkit here:

My questions ....

1. The clips on the dashkit are rather thick and rigid, which would make them rather difficult to remove. Dremel to the rescue?

2. My friend who did the soldering showed me a black ground wire, which according to the description accompanying the wiring harness, may need to be attached to the chassis of the car, dependent on the model. Is this necessary for the Neon?

Thanks

for the ground part of it there will prob be a metal strap that is bolted to the back of the deck usually a 10mm socket will do or wrench, will be the same size holding the deck in place, just cut the strap and connect it to the ground wire on the deck, as for the dash kit i usually use wire cutters to to cut the extra pieces off that are not used on the neon application, then just clean them up with an exacto knife...
