i would like to replace the Nakamichi HU in my 96 Lexus LS400 with something that has navigation, xm/iPod integration & hands-free phone
metra has a bezel, but no wire harness
i was thinking of using the pre outs of a new HU and splicing into the wires to the existing amp and not using the amp section of the new HU
is this the best choice?

i think if you bypass the amp you will have better sq

 

from what i have read, the speakers are 2 ohms (which may be a problem for some HU amps)
also, the amp is equalized for the speakers & subwoofer
