Alright vehicle in question is a 1999 Honda Civic LX 4DR Sedan. I was having insane light dimming issues at idle and still am. Yesterday i did 1 of the big 3 upgrade compontnes. I upgraded the Chassis to BAT -. Made a pretty big differnece actually as the stock groudn they dont even scrape away the paint. I used the 2 guage for the new ground same as power wire running to back.

My system conists of two AMps. 1 PG Tantrum T500.2 with a peak current draw at 60A. Then i have a Pg Tantrum 300.2 Peak current draw of 30A. THe pg is being used at 500WRMS @ 4ohms Bridged. THe T300.2 being used at 75*2WRMS @ 4 ohms stereo.

Now my lights still dim with everythign CRANKED at idle bass boost on and sub level at 15/15. I doubt that i can avoid the dimming even with the ALT to BAT+ upgrade but i still wanan do it. In this car the alternator is burried next to engine block at drivers side. I was told by a local shop that if i do this upgrade ill prob eliminate even more dimming. As the guy who told me this was speaking from experience in a 95 Civic. And he told me the stock wiring is a pos 8 guage. Ive tried to find the ALT to BAT + off the alternator but i cannot find it at all. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or can i just go to some local shop and have them do it?

Hi,

I'm not sure of your particular application, but usually there are only two wires hooked up to the alternator. The big one is ALT to BAT +.

Are you still using the stock wires to power your deck.

trying going to a dirrerent power source for you deck. it has work on a couple of cars that i had a real problem with the lights dimming. use a new constant power and new ground and new ignition. let me know how it turns out.

A good power and ground wire to your head will impress you. I put the power from my alpine 9835 right to the battery, and it makes for a very happy cd player. The "average" person listening to my car, would not be able to tell that I am running deck power to my components. I really have to thank Defro for tellin' me to run my deck in 3 way mode, and ridding myself of passive crossovers. Allthough, the funds are happy again, so I'll have to go 4 channel amp huntin' now. Also, look into a yellow top. It's one of the best things I've ever added to my system
