looking for solution...batt isolator or SOL ?
Hey guys i would post this in the black void section but i need a quick answer and theres not as many ppl in there, despite the fact i am an installer im quite new and my knowledge is limited to my understanding of things or my direct experience with them, i havent dealt with battery isolators and second dry cell batterys in the trunk, the alternator im dealing with i belive puts out 60 amps, ive killed two batterys now and have a pretty good voltage drop on my electrical system with my stereo hitting, my understanding of what the batt isolater and second battery would do is if the draw was too much then the alternator could produce the isolator would make the stereo only draw from the dry cell but im not sure if im right, i cant afford to uprade cars or altinators right now and im thinking of just poping another battery and an isolator in there yet i do understand that the total current is only as good as the alternator im just trying to run my system on minimal settings and not kill my batts, sorry if it was too general and i missed info as im getting off a good weekend bender and not thinking great
thanks guys
thanks guys
i have an 86 honda prelude, im running a concept CD-1210 which is rated at 1210 watts rms at 1 ohm and is fused at 100 amps i doubt im drawing anymore then 50 -60 amps im running the amp at a 4 ohm load right now, i havent done the math but my batt does run at a clean 14-14.4v volts while running with no current draw, its dropped as low as 11 volts when the bass hits while driving yet usually stays around 12-13 volts when driving
