Hey, I'm having some problems getting the door trim off the two doors in my 99' sonoma extended cab. I can't seem to get the manual window crank off. In the Haynes manual it says something about taking a spring clip off, but i don't see that anywhere when I pry at the drim. Any advice on how to remove the manual window crank?

The clip is shaped like a horseshoe and has a bad habit of going flying really easy when pressure is applied, so be careful. It is located behind the plastic of the window crankshaft. If you push in on the door panel around the window crank and use something like a cd surface as a mirror you can then look at the backside of the window crank to see where and how this clip is removed. It is usually a gold or silver color.

 

Awesome, thanks. I got the clip off (not before shedding some blood from my fingers though). I still can't seem to get the trim off though. I removed the door handle cover, and i've undone what I think is all the plastic clips around the inside of the door trim. It feels like there's still something holding it on by the door handle though. maybe it's just getting hung up? Or is there some special trick?

make sure u got every screw there might be one hiding on u, or one u think has nothing to do with holding the door panel on.... i had taht happen with my car...

 

I haven't got the door trim panels off yet so i decided to move to the power wire and have a couple questions with it...

Any recommendations on a good spot to go through the firewall? I found an empty plug on the passenger side, but i can't seem to get to it in the engine compartment? Know of any easy existing spots?

Also, my positive batter post is nicely corroded. I got it off battery, and I have a replacement post, but the post is kind of "stuck" in the main power wire if you know what I mean. It seems like it's a part of the harness. Do I just need to pry at it to get it out in order to use my new post?

Got the door trim off! I was missing two screws that were up underneath the stationary handle.

Still don't know about the power wire though.

I got the power wire through the firewall. I ended up making an existing grommet holeon the passenger side a little bigger and sqeezing it through there.

But I still haven't solved the problem of the corroded positive battery wire harness. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. Trying to get this tiddied up tonight. I realize it's a bad time to ask though as everyone is probably having Easter Dinner.
