Just the audio output to the speakers shut off. The sub continues to run as does the display. If I go into the menu to turn the IC off and then back on to get the output again but it will shut down again if the volume is increased or if I don't lower the volume as I stated before.

My Alpine rep didn't show up today as was planned so hopefully he will be in tomorrow.

As far as the speakers it's driving they are all Alpine, and other than the 40watt RMS rating the Type R 6.5" has, the power match up is almost bang on.

Type S 4" (25watts RMS)
Type R 6.5" (40watts RMS)
CDA9833 V-Drive (26watts RMS per channel)

Anyways, the next thing I will try, is to run the ground directly to a chassis point, rather than use the harness. I am really getting bummed out about my new purchase. I thought it would be an amazing difference as there was nothing wrong with my old Panasonic other than the writing on the buttons was worn off. Big deal.....I know that thing blindfolded anyways.

Any more suggestions ???? Please ???? Anyone ?????
Is this thing on ?????

power matching has nothing to do with the load that the deck see's
as you play a speaking all according to the loading it see's
which is its box size
and environment
and the frequency its playing
the resistance will change up or down
if the radio's outputs see a load it dosn't like the chip will go into protection and turn off
until the condition is corrected

I ran the ground (12awg) to a chassis point but am still having the same problem.

Here's another thing.....the rear speakers on the Toyota are factory amplified. Perhaps that is causing some kind of conflict???

Next step is to try and run direct from the HU to the rear Type R 6.5" bypassing the factory amp.

Crossing my fingers or else the Panasonic is going back in and I will get a Rockford PA2 (linedriver) instead.

were you running a speaker level out, into the factory amp, then to the new speakers? That could be your problem right there.. Run straight from the outs on the deck to the speakers.

they are not usually installers they are usually just sales people
i would try phoning alpine in canada and try and talk to there tech support people
Sorry Pin.... however -- Tim, the interior Alpine Rep is a very good installer who used to own his own shop -- He knows "very much" -- it's nice to know what you think of Reps.

funny when people bash reps.. especially people who own a shop.. where would you be without the reps and distributors? You'd be buying your gear at a big box store

Have you tryed metering your speaker leads to see if any of them are shorting to ground? When one speaker wire shorts to ground it shuts all the speakers down. Might be worth a try

I checked all the speaker leads and we bypassed the factory amplifier for the rears and still the same problem. The only part of the HU that cuts out is the IC (V-Drive) amplification system. The display works fine as does the sub but I either have to turn off the HU and back on or go into the menu settings and turn the IC off and then back on.

I think my Alpine reps name is Tom (although I may be mistaken Mike). He did inform me that he had been an installer for @ 13 years and was an Alpine Techie for @ 2 years before taking on the position of Rep.

Almost all of the reps I have met have been knowledgeable, helpful and great troubleshooters except for that Rockford Rep guy.

Just kidding Mike. You rock buddy. Just gotta get you up North a little more often so we can pick your brain.
P.S. I am gonna try and make the Surrey Visions show if I can get the time off. It's a bit of a drive from Pr. George. Also, can I still compete in the Street A or am I gonna get bumped cause I'm "in the industry".

Joe, I still have to meet with the other western DB Drag officials to determine rule changes and classes for this year. They only thing I'm kinda sure of is a "novice" class this year for the "real" first timers.

I love the central interior this time of year (only driving through in October is nicer) but I digress (as usual)-- hope you can make it on the 9th.
