Newb question??

I just purchused a used amp, while hooking it up I made the mistake of connecting the power cables up backwards (positive to negative, negative to positive) this caused sparking and some smoke to come out of the input. I removed the cord immediately so this only occured for 3-4 seconds. Once I connected everything correctly the amp does not work. What is the likelyhood my actions caused this problem. Trying to figure out if I bought a used amp that doesnt work? Thanks for your help!!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news bro, but you let the magic smoke out. It is now toast and was 100% due to hooking up the wires backwards. Always double check your wires before putting the main fuse back in.

You may still have an out! If the amp has onboard fuses, they may just be blown in which case if you replace them it MAY work(sometimes not all the magic smoke comes out). If not consider it lesson learned!

well, a repair for this problem is roughly $80 at almost any electroniics place(power supply) I did this once too, after a night of drunk installing, I hooked up the power wires backwards and made magic smoke as well. It sucks, learn from it, and suck it up
