Okay, here's a good one for you

Okay, A week ago, I took out my amps, sub and disconnected all the wiring in the trunk. Made a new amp rack, re-installed everything, and now the bass notes and sq don't hit anywhere near what they did before.
What do I troubleshoot? Grounding points? All power connections? Crimps in any wiring? Head Unit controls and settings? Amp settings?
I never really touched anything for settings on the h/u or the amps and the enclosure is the same in the trunk in the same location. Is there something specific that is making it sound only half as good and the bass half as deep as before?
Damm.....was sounding perfect before....it was tight or boomy when it needed to, now its just tight bass and some songs that I listen to are like night and day compared to before I re-did the trunk.

polarity?????
Its a single 4 ohm voice coil, running off of a mono 4 ohm channel. You think my speaker wire is hooked up backwards to the amp???????

I believe what he meant is maybe you inadvertantly wired a sub out of phase or changed the ohm configuration (parallel-series) or possibly connected onto the amp wrong. But now that we know you are only running one single vc sub and a mono amp it's pretty hard to screw that up.
I would check that the rca connections from the HU to the amp are all connected. If one has come undone it may be the problem. Also double check all the gain settings (HU, line driver, amp, crossover settings) and check the sub-sonic filter (if applicable) on the amp (or wherever another may be in the line) that it hasn't been adjusted incorrectly or mistakenly turned on if it wasn't before.
Good luck.

could the new amp rack be acting as kinda a sound deadening? like if u made it say to cover the back wall of the trunk that could kill a bit of the sound,
thats all i can think of, or maybe u hit the bass boost or whatever its called, button or cross over switch on the amp when u were takin it in and out? i have done that once or twice on my amp, pressed that "-12db" button by accident and be like WTF?!?!? when i got no bass..

Just an update on what happenned since my post was first put up here....
Turns out I had all my wiring correct, actually better than originally thought. Took my car to Audio Concepts, they tweaked each amp to maximize their performance as well as utilizing the head unit's capabilities. Took the rear speakers out, only front ones actually running, plus changed the crossover on each amp as well as playing around with the adjustable eq on the h/u.
Was all a matter of fine tuning the system, definitely recommend AC for working out the little details in anyone's car audio install. Made a huge difference.
