Opinions needed on some different equipment.

I am purchasing a new vehicle and I will be starting fresh with my audio. All speakers/amps/subs will be infinity, and all wires/terminals/distribution blocks/battery will be stinger. I am hoping that I will learn a ton from this install but before I start I need some suggestions...

My head unit right now is Pioneer, it is fairly nice but it doesn't have all the features I want. I am looking for a head unit with a lot of features for sound quality. Although I enjoy multicolored headunits with moving graphics those things are not necessary. I am going for sq not looks. So please give me some ideas.

I think I will be upgrading my alternator. I have been looking all over for car audio alternators but I can not find any sellers. Where are some stores that I could find alternators at? (preferably stinger if they exist)

I found out today that the new car I am getting (1997 olds aurora) has the stock battery in the trunk. I want to use two batteries (unless you guys think that I will not benifit from this) , my stinger and the stock battery. Am i right by saying that you hook up the positive to posite and negative to negative and I will be good to go? Or will I need any additional equipment because I have heard something about "battery drain" and I don't know what that is.

Why burn your money on stinger, They rarely make anything of their own and charge twice as much for their gear. Check out Audiopipe for install gear.

Alpine makes alot of head units with very nice options. As for an alternator knock on a few doors of alternator rebuild shops, They can bump one up for you alot cheaper then the samething that you will get from stinger.

Two batteries are only needed if you want to play your system with the engine not running for extended periods of time, it will also help with headlight dimming. In my opinion you don't need two batteries, but if you can afford the 2nd battery then go for it. Make sure that the battery that is used in the trunk is a sealed type like an stinger or optima. You would need to run the positive to the positive and the negative of the trunk battery can be grounded to the body of the car. You will need a fuse at the front battery and before and after the 2nd battery. You will also want a bettery isolator between the two batteries. This will stop one battery from being drained dead if the other battery fails. The best bettery isolator that I have ever found and used was the Orion/Wired MBR-70 as it also has a 70amp voltage regultor to help avoid overloading and burning out your alternator.

A rewound alternator for the most part crams more windings in the same size case. This means more heat in the same size chassis and the sooner it will fail. So sure it is cheaper in the short run, in the long run though, well it depends on the size of the system and how hard you are going to play it.

Stinger builds alternators from scratch. They have a company that they deal with that does this for them. They are not cheap, the last one I brought in was a g note. It did however deliver rock solid performance for the task at hand.

Who makes what for who has nothing to do with anything. Does McDonalds grow and harvest their own potatoes for their fries? There is so much of who makes what for who in this industry it is not even funny.

For a good cd player my recommendation is the Eclipse line.

You have got to be joking, First of all Stinger alternators are built from scratch
using OEM powder coated cases with a Stinger model # plate riveted into the side of the case. In most new cars going with a larger case alternator is not possible in OEM applications unless you start modifying mounting brackets or totally relocating the alternator and this is the exact reason why stinger uses oem cases.

A rewound alternator for the most part crams more windings in the same size case as do stinger alternators and they will not fail unless you don't upgrade other components such as regulators, rectifiers, and bearings.

Who makes what for who has everthing to do with everthing. McDonalds might not grow and harvest their own potatoes for their fries, but at the same time their fries don't taste the same as Burger King's even if they did come from the same potatoes. If they did taste the same as Burger King's then it would be silly to pay 2 or 3 times more for the McDonalds fries wouldn't it?

there are many alternators that are made specifically to produce high amounts of current. i'm running a 200A Exccessive Amperage alternator in my cutlass. it's great. many alternators can be wound in stock cases to have significantly increased output while remaining at reasonable temperatures. most times when HO alternators are made, they use upgraded fans for increased cooling.

they've all got fan clubs of their own.
