Pioneer AVH-P4400BH parking brake bypass

I just picked up a Pioneer AVH-P4400BH double din deck. Was wondering if someone could tell me what wires need to be connected where with a relay that could bypass the parking brake, so I can watch video while moving?

Thanks

you have to ground the parking brake wire, but only after the unit is powered so you can go a manual route by using a switch and turn it on manually after you power the unit, or use a relay connected to your remote (amplifier activation) wire

^ The relay doesn't work so well anymore. The processor inside the unit takes too long to boot and by then the relay is on and it just sees it as grounded. Kinda crappy.

wouldn't a time delay relay work?

but like you said if the unit powers on before the processor then wouldn't an amp connected to the system be susceptible to turn on thump?

The relay, done correctly, works absolutely fine on the new units, I've done many of them. Even if the unit takes longer to turn on, then the remote turn on will take just as long after the unit turns on.

^ not in any of the ones I have done in the last year and a half or so. Older ones like the 4200 in the video above worked with a relay. Glad it's working for you.

Well the new models havent been out for 1.5 years but the AVH-P2300DVD, P3300BT, P1400DVD, and P3400BH I have all used a relay on with success.

Standard SPDT relay.

85 - Remote turn-on
86 - Ground
30 - Ground
87 - e-Brake

I can take a video demonstrating that this method works if you'd like.

Keep in mind that this doesn't work if using the AVIC-U220 with the AVH unit.

I highly doubt that these units are that different in Canada, but ya.

Sorry you're having issues with it.

I've never known of the relay trick myself (kind of embarrassing). I'm going to have to do this with my P5900DVD. I have the back-up cam as my wallpaper hooked up under A/V. It's super annoying to flip the switch EVERYTIME I get in the car.

Thanks nfrazier. Just tried this today with my AVH 4400BH and it worked like a charm.
