the reason why i ask the question is that i hear everyone talk about having equal lengths... and figuring that a signal will get to one voice coil faster than the other that it might not be good for the sub... but if that extra little bit of wire isnt important then thats all i need to know...

thanks

electricity moves @ the speed of light, so that extra few inches means diddly

just curious... why do people make sure their speaker wires are cut at exact lengths on both sides to combat "phase issues"? or is this a different case altogether?

Speed of light 299,792,458 meters/sec

20,000 Hz is equal to 20,000 cycles per second so the speed of light travels 14990 meters in one 20,000 Hz cycle.

But we are talking about phase shift so how much distance does electricity 'travel' in one degree of phase shift? 41.6 meters

Bottom line; as long as you don’t have a 50 meter mismatch you’re probably OK. To me it is a good engineering practice to keep the path runs close in length but obviously not a crushing priority
