wiring.. need quick answer please!
ive instaling my hu in today after my car was broken in to and it was ripped out (cops actually caught the kid.... i know)
ive connected all wires when i look and i cant find the red (ignition) wire on the car side of the harness i dont know what on earth happened to it but i tried splicing together the red (deck side) with the yellow wires and sure enough it turns on....
but now it doesnt turn off when i take the key out of the ignition (i guess yellow is battery??) .... unless someone can suggest something better this is fine by me i just dont want the battery to be drained when i get back.
my deck doesnt turn off....unless i take off the faceplate so im wondering if there is any drain on the battery what soever from the hu with the faceplate being off??
or if anyone can suggest another way to do it??
ps sorry for the grammer i like to drink beer when doing any sort of instal lol

If you can't find it, run a wire to the fuse panel under the dash, any fuse that turns on with the ignition will work (use a dmm to test this) heater, horn, radio (the radio one would be best), ect. The best way would be to splice it into the wire behind the fuse panel. If you are unable to get behind the panel. Find a empty fuse spot, they usually have power going to them, but are not used. crimp a male spade type connector onto the wire, and put it into the slot.
This would be how I would do it, might be confusing, and might not be the 100% best way, but it's better than having the radio on all the time.
