Sound deadening doors!
Good to here Mr.Marco!
I ran into some minor issues as well, they sort out pretty easy as long as you can locate them.
Some more info for you:
My midbass drivers seem to have a sweet spot from about 150hz down to 40hz. That is, they are about 10db more efficient in this area than above that frequency range. IB does funny things sometimes I guess. At first, when I measured the midbass all by themselves on the RTA, I thought I had a cancellation issue above 150hz. But, when I checked output of the amp, it was putting out 1 trusty watt into the midbasses. The midbass drivers were about 89 db effiecient above 150hz and 99db efficient below 150hz. Keep in mind that there is some cabin gain associated with this result, but none the less it's impressive.
I imagine those 8's are even more impressive than my 6.5s.
How does that W7 work for ya?

Only today did i run both the front end and the W7 simultaneously. It sounds so damn sweet! the W7 adds that extra low extension and completes the sound spectrum. i however think i have a peak at around 60-80 hz. i'd love to have it measured.
the eights are definetly impressive, and currently its te best they've ever sounded. I almost feel as if i can run this two way without adding a sub. Nonetheless, the W7 is working wonderously, as JL states, it sounds, for lack of a better word, TIGHT! by far the best sub i've ever played with. i'm just dying to get the revelators in there. YUM!

So how do the door midbass sound? Is the sound filling? I'm happy with my 6".

Hey I've got a question on this topic.
I've got 1 layer of sound deadening on my doors, and a mdf baffle for the woffer, a vifa 7" PL. The doors are nowhere near dead. I can't see how more deadening will help, it just moves way to much still. Is this where the clay comes into play?

You've just kind of answered you own question.
1.)There is MORE than 1 layer of deadening on my doors.
2.) It's a BMW, pretty solid to start with.
3.) That modeling clay does help.
It may be nessesary for you to further re-enforce the door with MDF. This is a really tricky area to get right, that's why I posted so many pictures. Feel free to post some of you install and I'm sure other's will be able to help you out too.

well, it was thanks to you adam... that little idea was a real nice finishing touch. it makes me think that Scott Buwalda did something along these lines to de-couple his mids from the doors.
i've built about 4 or 5 sets of kicks and they are not too hard. it depends how finicky you want the fnish to be. the hardest part truly is the tuning. having a buddy obey your every command with angling that passenger baffle is a must!!
funny enough, Plow and i were speaking about our front ends just about 1 hour ago. seems our Alto Drive 30's will be in by the weekend so on sunday i will do some more work on the kicks. most likely i will be working with Eddie (chinaman) on building plow's kicks.... that lucky bustard!!
tell you what, we'll build a set of kicks under the guise its for him, and when he;s not looking, BAM!! i take them and ship them to you!
