Speaker Installs

Hi Everyone,

new to this site, see a lot of great information sharing going on... hope I can get some help and advice.

I'm the process of changing the speakers in my Mustang and am having problems fitting the rear speakers in. The car is a 1988 Mustang convertible and the rear speakers mount in the side panels. The replacement speakers seem to be to deep or something as I cannot get the side panel to align properly once the speaker is attached to the panel. The speaker size is 6.5" for original and replacement. Also, the speaker molding inside the panel is shaped in a way to allow the speaker to point up when installed.....

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated as I'm frustrated at this point....

Thank You,

compare the replacement speaks with your stock ones and check for a difference in depth....also whats stopping the panel from fitting back into place? it the speaker touching the outside body of the car? or is it hitting on some metal on the inside of the panel... alot of times when installing new speakers you will have to cut away metal to fit them in...... not a good feeling when doing it to your car but its really not that bad

Thanks,

the speaker is hitting the seatbelt assembly. Is there anysort of bracket that can help reposition the speaker so it does not hit the seatbelt assembly. Looks like the speaker needs to be higher.....to clear the seatbelt assembly.....

Thanks,
