Speakers/Subwoofer stopped working

Hey guys,

I have a Pioneer DEH-P6800 deck and I have 4 speakers hooked up to the deck (2 front/2 rear). There is also a subwoofer hooked up to an amp which is connected to the deck as well. Everything was working well for the past 2 years and now a couple problems have arise, I was thinking it could be time for a new deck but I just want to make sure it's a problem with the deck first.

Just the other day my speakers started having problems, at first the sound would get quieter and then eventually stop working completely while the subwoofer was still working. When I turned my car off and on again, the speakers would work perfectly normal.

Now, my speakers work for about 10-15 minutes of driving then they would get quieter and cut off, then my subwoofer would cut off shortly afterwards. If I turned the deck off for a few minutes, and turn it back on, everything would work. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks,

I had a feeling it was the deck because it seemed like it was overheating, I'll try swapping in another deck to see if it does the same thing.

Your deck is probably dieing. The question is, why? It could be natural causes, or maybe the wiring or some other factor has stressed it over time.

well I had the deck for a bit over 2 years now so maybe it's just getting old? Just last month it started to skip my cds and that's when I realized it was overheating

Just out of curiousity, where are you grabbing your power from? I realize that these decks aren't going to draw anything near to what a full power amp draws, but you still want to have pleanty of flow. Overheating can be a sign of voltage drop from insuficient power wires or a bad ground. Did your deck ever dim at higher volumes?

I'm using a 4 gauge wire which is hooked up to my car battery, my deck never dimmed at higher volumes, this is the first time that something like this has happened.
