relocating the factory is the cheapest way, if you do it your self. the down side is that it's way beyond most people. Also if your not a licensed installer you will have problems with warrenties and such.In the long run the aftermarket are cheaper cause of less head aches, if you change cars you can't just put the factory head unit back in if it's been relocated. As for the saftey stuff that's why we retain these functions in the first place. Those functions are not run through the deck, but they are part of a loop that the deck is also a part of. If you take it out all the parts of the loop no longer communicate as designed which can lead to problems. You don't want to find out the hard way. Either relocate or shell out the money for the aftermarket pieces.

I came across this thread/forum looking for info on the JVC KW-NX7000 and blown fuses..

My issue is simular to the OP.. I have a JVC KW-NX7000 installed in a 07 Chevy Mailbu MAXX.. The install was done at a local stereo installer and was what I consider a "complete" install (Scosce DIC (custom mounted below AC controls), door chime/non OnStar wire hariness, BlueTooth, HD Radio, XM Satellite Radio, 2 Pair 6.5" Componet Speakers w Amp, Pair 8" Subs w Amp, and sound deadening in the doors - approx total $4500 installed).......

The origional work order was for the JVC KW-NX5000, but the installer found out when finishing the install (a full day, 9:30 am dropoff and 1:30 am pickup) that HDD was Hard Disk Drive and the unit was not HD Radio ready.. They agreed (at no charge to me) to install, in its place, the KW-NX7000 and relocate the DIC under the AC controls..

The "new" install was scheduled for 2 days.. They relocated the amps and installed the new deck. The unit they recieved was DOA. I recieved a phone call 5pm during day 2 about the DOA unit and the replacement unit would be recieved next day.. I was able to pickup my vehicle approx 6pm on the 3rd day...

I had the old radio installed for about a week, with what was installed working.. When I got the car back with the new radio, the subs seemed weak and 1-2 hrs later, radio is dead... Check fuses, blown.. called installer, was told to replace with 10A fuse with 15A fuse (same as in radio).. When plugging in new fuse, immedieatly blows!! Second Fuse install, i see blue flash under driver side dash (im assuming it was the fuse in the radio blowing).. The DIC now works... When plugging in fuses, no key in ignition w door open..

The car is going back to the installer for what will be day 4 tomorrow... Any ideas as to what would be causing this???
