Hey guys...

Dunno if you can help me out here, but I'm planning on getting a 500W RMS system approx in my car.

Should I be worrying about getting a new alternator ? I doubt I'll ever be playing it really loud in the first place, but I dunno... I'm really new to all this.

No you shouldn't need a new alternator. You shouldn't have any problems with only 500w.

u shouldn't have an issue but if you are really worried u could look into getting a power cap to curve the draw from ur alternator it will be cheaper than upgrading

I'd recommend a larger battery eg:650CA marine starting (stock one is tiny) and upgrade the ground connections(big 3),4 guage will be sufficient with a 500w amplifier.
