What type of stereo is out there that i can stand vertically (so the face is facing the roof of the car) because The car i bought has the stock am radio in it and i don't want to take it out... i'd rather put the stereo in the center console by the drivers arm so that it is hidden, and doesn't take away from the nostalgic look of the car.. plus then i can make up something to hold the deck that is totally removeable as to not damage the interior of the car.

I did that years ago with a Alpine 7939, any good quality CD player should be able to play standing upright.

blaupunkt has a couple pieces that are designed to do that i think the casablanca is one of them

thanks for the replies... i wasn't sure about cd players playing vertically so i figured i'd ask..

if anything wouldnt just hooking up a small 12 volt fan work to cool the thing if it gets to hot??

^ I think the issue of concern was the HU reading the CD. Make sure to ask the dealer about this when you buy your HU, if you plan on using one you already have give it a dry run vertically prior to installation.
