I've been thinking outside the box tonight and wondered if anybody thought peel and stick floor tile would work as a deadener. (OK, so I was doing some flooring tonight). I figure it's probably not sticky enough, especially in the summer heat. Anybody else have this half baked idea??? [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

I think there must be something in that peel and stick adhesive that affects the brain. I'm curious, do you think the glue would stick in the long term??? I won't be trying this but I've never used ANY sound deadening products, so I don't know how "sticky" they feel in comparison.

when the sound deadener is heated it gets real sticky.

 

I hear from time to time that asphalt roofing tar is another great, and cheap dampner. If you don't mind the smell...

 

I can just imagine it, the doors rust one dayand underneath you see the old woodgrain floor tiles, a woody wagon reborn. hehe. Is this going into your F250? (a real man's truck) Have a look at Brown Bread, it is a great product that has never let me down in all of the vehicles that we deaden on a regular basis.

 

Thats a good visual, woody wagon. It would match the fake wood grain on my doors then. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] I haven't commited to deadening anytime soon, but hopefully I'll get to it eventually, lots else needs attention right now (deck, driveway, kitchen....) The door skins come off reeeeaaalll easy so it won't take too much when I decide to shell out some coin.
