What Am I Doing Wrong???
I hear ya there. I do my own installs and if something craps out, I dump it and move on although I have had great luck with no name gear. Last year I bought a two way lcd alarm for $60 and it works great, I have two more in my closet just waiting for something to go wrong. Funny thing is that just last week I went to a local dealer to get some power cable and he was selling the same alarm for $279 before install.

The reason most experianced installers may seem bias to brand name stuff is because we have installed thousands of radios. Every brand! when we have trouble-shoot some poor kids innovec (or whatever there called) deck thats 2 weeks old, It takes up our time, and our customers time. We generally tell the customer in advance that installing this unit is a bad idea.
I feel bad when a kid has to pay me $48. for install on a $60 deck. A month later he has to pay another $48 to get another deck installed. It doesnt make sense.
How many Bull dog remote starters have i seen with relays that stick! Thanks wallmart!
We sell brand name decks for $100 dollars. with a year warrenty. And free ins
tall of your factory deck when you sell your car.
Every week I get customers stop by with these wierd "flash in the pan" car starters and alarms. there remotes are dead, or there starter is hanging on. Its hard to survice a product that has no manual or no website.

Total reverse mentallity of me... My van is kept clean, well maintained, and is more than comfy inside...
My work van, a 95 Astro as well, hit 415,000km's just today. My last vehicle had 640,000km's on it when I replaced it.
My van is my office. I drive (P&D), on average, a minimum of four hours a day, city. Seven to eight hours when we're really busy. 40,000 to 50,000 kliks a year. Plus holidaze and partys at the lake (where we park her at the firepit for tunage all weekend).
My kid asked me one day, "Dad, why do you spend so much time, money & effort in fixing up the van?".
"I spend more time in that van than you do in this living room. You want a nice living room with a nice couch, good tv, etc. doncha?"
So, MY work van, on the outside is just that, a plain white Astro with commercial lettering on the side, typical peeling paint of a 12 year old Chevy van with 415,000km's, not worth a plug nickel more than a grand. INside, there's five digits worth of electronics, five amps, three batteries, seven speakers, two video screens, an XBox, nice wood paneling, plush carpeting, and nice ambient lighting!
It ain't pretty, it just looks that way... eheheheee
There's nothing wrong with using cheap gear... As long as your expectations aren't higher than the products limits. you rin into problems when you expext your 80 dollar 1000W @1 ohm amp to perform as well as a brand name counterpart...
What's wrong with Pyle or Jensen??? Nothing as long as you don't expect it to be something it's not.
