bud,i think it is better to put your ground close to the chassis or exactly connected to it so the negative current will have good flow.

sand all pant and dirt away from the point you plan on using, bolt/screw it in tight, and it is best to try and keep the ground wire length as short as possible (no more then 2-3 feet from the amp)
