Quick question- please answer

Hi. Please answer this question even if it seems stupid cuz im lost on that one.
I was reading few posts on this forum before about installing the back 6X9's, and some of you recommended sealing the trunk from the cabin. Now i know i can easy seal the back panel that the 6X9's are mounted on, but do i have to seal the trunk of the cabin in 100%? Meaning that do I have to seal it on the sides as well?

NONO, I mean actually sealing the trunk. The post im refering to is:
http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/onli...eeze-more.html

So i know I suppose to seal the rear deck, but the sides still port to the cabin (behind the wheel wells)

Oh ok :]. That answers my question, sealing the whole thing will take good few cans of insulating foam lol....

I think you are confused by what that post is actually about..... he doesnt mean sealing off the whole trunk from the rest of the car, he is talking about making sure that there arent any air leaks around the 6x9 (when you replace factory speakers with aftermarket speakers they are rarely a perfect fit) If the speaker has leaks around it you get cancelation from the backwave of the speaker.... thus resulting in little or no bass/midbass. I usually just make an adapter plate out of 3/8' mdf that completely covers the factory opening and then cut a new hole in the mdf to mount the aftermarket speaker. I also use silicone inbetween the adapter plate and the metal deck to make sure that its an air tight seal. Dont expect too much bass out of 6x9's tho... if you dont have a sub already I would consider adding one because if you try to push bass through 6x9's your gonna ruin them, they are more suited for midbass. Personally I dont use 6x9's anymore I always replace them with 6 1/2's but thats just my preference

I do have a decent 12", its about 500rms, so it does the trick for now.... i was trying to get better SQ from them... You think a foam self adhesive tape for insulating windows will work if I put it around the edge of the speaker?

CrazyKenKid- I was thinking bout making an "enclosure" for them, the little boxes are kinda awkward to work with since my car (civic) has a rear deck with a place for the 6X9, and there is no place for those boxes anywhere really without modding the car in some major way. You think a fiberglass enclosure will be really worth it, if i manage to make one under the rear deck??

P.s. Yes they are amped, putting about 110rms into them.

the foam tape should work if the gaps are minimal... building an enclosure to isolate them is ideal but tricky
