Xbox in my Sportage
hey guys just installed a dvd player and an 8 inch overhead in the Sportage just wondering if anyone here has ever taken apart an Xbox, not that 360 overpriced thing the original, and relocated some of the parts for a car audio application. I've got no room unless i remove the passenger side airbag or build my trim panels in the hatch area and incorporate it back there but the bass will render it useless! I will post some pics soon . I know i have a caraudio mag with a corvette where they installed an Xbox and relocated the drive but ....... heheehehe I've got lots of car audio mags to many to go through. I just wanna get this big *** box out from under a seat where it doesn't even fit . Thanx all.
Also is there any laws against removing the passenger side airbag???

I've relocated the drive and front buttons in an S2000 I did. Pretty simple, just soldered and heat shrink to extend the wires...
The xbox was un-accessable behind fiberglass trim in the trunk so we mounted the drive and buttons in a trim piece behind the passenger seat. We also used wireless controlers.

removing any original safety equipment is illegal, not to mention a bad idea. How would you feel if your passenger was seriously injured as a result of removing safety equipment? I would find somewhere else to install it. How about a rebuild of the center console?

I've got a Crackbox in my van right now (ya, that's what we call it, as it can be as addictive as crack), but it's just thrown in on the floor behind the driver's seat. I think I'm gonna build a little shelf over the two batteries behind the rear seat and mount it on there...
But I do like the idea of relocating the drive and switches.... hmmm..........

I'll probably do the relocation not this weekend but either the following weekend or the weekend after that ..I got some travelling to do. but from what i've read on the net on xbox mods it doesn't seem that difficult if you want i'll let you know when i do mine and maybe you can come check it out see how it goes.
