advice wanted re: move to Calgary
Oh, and to answer your question about appartments:
I had a 1 bedroom 900 sq ft appartment on 7th ave with parking for $800 a month. There was an indoor walkway network attached to the building called the PLUS 15 that allowed walking inside throughout most of the downtown. (Definitely a big plus in the winter) If you are planning on living in downtown Calgary, Boardwalk Properties has a few buildings in the area.
The rates shouldn't have gone up too much since I left last August.
I can't comment to much on daily life because I didn't spend too much time there. I had the appartment in Calgary, a place on the Plateau in downtown Montreal, and my current residence on PEI that I was bopping between while working in Europe and the Middle East. Most of my time living in down town Calgary was spent recovering from numerous cases of jetlag. The food was good though.
