I got a more then unsettling phone call this morning. My sister called me back from Sask to let me know that one of my best friends had been in an accident.
Him and his brother were out doing some bar hopping on Sat night. They were at one bar in Regina and decided they would go hit another. Because they had more then a couple drinks they decided to take the responsible aproach and walk (its only a couple of blocks between bars). They were almost at the new location when they saw a car screeming down the road with another in close persuit. The driver of the first car tried to take a corner at about 70km/h and skid out onto the sidewalk. The one brother was able to jump out of the way but unfortunatly one of them was struck by the car. When the car finally came to rest, the driver was just going to take off. It took a couple of people to get him out of the car and take his keys from him. The other car that was chasing him just abandoned the sceen.
One of my best friends is currently in the ICU undergoing tests with a cardiologist as his heart is not doing well. Amazingly enough he does not have a single broken bone. But, 3/4 of his teeth have been knocked out and he had about 40+ stiches in his face.
Once the police arrived, the found the driver was severly intoxicated as well as the rest of the passengers in the car. They are currently looking for the driver of the second car as someone got the plate number from it.
I am usually not one to preach, but this is a perfect example on how stupid drinking and driving is. Here one person is just walking, minding his own buisness, and some ****er comes along and almost kills him.

Ya Ive had a couple friends that were killed by drunk drivers and it never quite amazes me how idiots like this are still allowed to walk. People should be breaking their legs for trying idiot stunts like this.
Hope your friend gets better soon FW

I hope he is alright. That is the crappy part of drinking. Because honestly 75% of people that drink think that they are okay to drive after they drink. They just don't use their heads. And then after something happens they sit there and cry that they didn't mean to. I think any drunk driver that kills or injures someone should be given a mandatory 10+ year sentence. In the least I hope the guy is alright.

Sorry to hear that man, in my prayers as well Ic an't stand anyone who drinks and drives. Its irresponsible. If your responsible enough to obtain a license be responsible enough to know when not to drive is my moto.
I think canada should have laws like europe, or australia.
in most countries in europe, if you get caught drunk driving, you lose your license, period. and if you kill someone while drunk driving, it's first degree murder, no trial, summary conviction, just like a speeding ticket.
in australia, if you get caught intoxicated behind the wheel, you get a bright orange licence plate, for life. everyone who looks at your car will know that you're irresponsible, and a potential murderer.
