Attn:Dodge People!!
I'm having a problem here and looking for some advise if possible...
As a replacement for the Cavy,I picked up a 1989 Plymouth Voyager...2.5 Turbo...Auto....after a feirce battle to get it going....but thats not the problem at hand...
It doesnt seem to like running in the standard operating temp range...sometimes....it only runs well when cold.....Sometimes....
When it warms up it will from time to time stumble and then pick back up, more or less bounding back and forth from about 1000 rpm(where it sits at idle when it does decide to run properly)down to about 400RPM.It does this a few times, then sooner or later it stalls. And this is sitting parked in the driveway, sitting at red light, or taking off from a light...but not always....mostly when hot though..
When driving it,as long your moving it seems ok..not great..but ok...
It doesnt seem to want accelerate much from time to time, but then out of nowehre it will go.if you 2 foot drive it and keep the RPM's up above 1000 rpm at a light its ok..most ofthe time anway..It does from time to time, when leaving the light like this, stumble and alot of the time stall...
Looking at some of the threads on a couple boards and suggestions offered from mechanic friends here's a list of possibilties:
Pickup
VSS
MAP
IAC
TPS
Fuel filter
possible sticking EGR
Bad turbo
and several other silly things.
Right now after sitting and thinking about it, the pickup seems to be the most logical place to start...
Now being fairly new to the world of Dodge, are all 2.2/2.5/Turbo pickups interchangable?Or is there something I should watch for?
If anyone can offer some advise on getting this thing going properly, Email me at team8track@shaw.ca or post here.
Thanks ahead of time for any help people may be.....
I hope its nothing big....

I'm not familiar with what a 'pickup' is? Is that some sort of ignition thing?
First thing I thought was IAC. The sensors you listed there aren't terribly expensive so just start replacing them. Is it throwing any codes?
Dodge put that motor in a ton of different vehicles so finding parts in a boneyard shouldn't too difficult. My uncle had one of those since new for a while and it could smoke the tires nicely

I can't afford even this thing,Yuli....But the Cavalier is killing me on gas...I already(even with the problem)am getting better mileage out of the van....If you dont like my posts please dont reply to them....I need help here, not critizism...
Now...with that said...Not throwing codes....The pickup is the hall effect switch in the bottom of the distributor. It pulses a signal to the module then to the coil. Its sort of common on a lot of vehicles for this thing to go.
Just wish I had cash to buy parts with....
The parts for this thing in some cases are not the same as the turbo CARS....The MAP sensor setup is totally different. The van runs an actual MAP sensor while the cars run it thru the logic module located in the RF kickpanel.
Oh and cheap..not really...I priced out the MAP sensor...$110.00.....because its 87-89 Turbo Vans only.....not interchangable with anything else really...
I'm gonna hit the bone yard here before work and see what I can find..hope I have enough cash on me...See if I can find a PU coil and try it out...

I had the same prob with my van 2 weeks ago...
Wanted to run but kept stumbling, sometimes ran smooth for a bit but was crazy inconsistant and wanted to stall but not always.
Step into the gas... it wanted to go, but felt like it was holding back..
anyway 3 days later fuel pump finally quit

I'd say probably that hall effect thing in the distributor .......I swap that out 1st
also the Vss sometimes acted up on the k cars causing stalling problems
after that I'd say tps
since it's an idle problem I wouldn't say turbo, fuel filter or map should be the problem, those usually cause problems when under load
just because there's no CEL doesn't mean there's no codes, you did the key on off thing and checked for codes right ????

If you need cheap parts for that car just give me a shout...I have 4 2.5 turbo cars sitting around, 2 of em parts cars...
www.turbododge.com
best place to get info on this
im thinking its tps, fuel filter, or turbo...possible 02 sensor
Reset the computer and see what happens...just take off + on battery for 30 min and then put it back on.
