voltage regulators seem to be a common problem on these vehicles. the problem is, the regulator is in the ecu, but you can hook up an external one if need be...I have one if you want.

another common problem is moisture getting into the LM and causing havoc....

I may have found the problem...

As some suggested...the fuel pump !

Long story short,2 mechanic buudies of mine at a shop next to where I work did a huge battery of tests and trails....we even took the cat.convertot out....and after all was said and done, everything points to the pump....

So far I've been quoted $105 for the pump...but I'm going to look around and see what I can find....

I'm going to pull the Cavalier back out for the next day or so,and hope the paycheck is enough for me to go get a pump, new fuel filter and what not to get it done....

Got my hands on a pump yesterday...thanks to a buddy I used to work with at Auto Value...

Pump is in...running great....starts great....drove around for about an hour last night with no probs....

The strainer was blacker than the ace of spades....the culprit!!

I think I need to set the timing up a little, theres a little bit of a lagging off the line, but other than that,I'm calling it fixed!!

Eric....PM me when you want to grab that stuff and I'll let you know if I'll be at work or not....

Thanks for the input everyone....Mucho Appreciato!!

Check the air filter and all other filters. If everything is plugged, then nothing runs right.
